yes! upward mobility certainly is the american -- and to some extent the modern woman's -- dream; i keep thinking what a marxist jane austen was to perceive so crisply exactly what marriage is. the thing is i think stanley is totally wrong to link the kardashians or the jersey shore gang either to the escapades of the rich, or to the escapades of the goops. she's totally off track that that's what reality TV is about, altho she's right about the idea that the rich and the goops are both entertainment.
