Tours of the Ruins of Detroit

As everyone knows, all I care about is HGTV any more, and so about the only thing I really read in today's massive NYT is the design supplement, which has in it a review of two books of photographs about the ruins of Detroit. What The City is going to look like after the nerve gas war is the only thing I care about more than HGTV, and I am jonesing for both books, which together cost more than $100.

Next year in Jerusalem, since I just dropped $70 on an art book I've been lusting for for like five years.

All of which led me to this fabulous, incredible website.

And don't forget Tyree Guyton and his dot project.

I'm still waiting for [personal profile] atthesametime to purchase, to read, and to critique Rem Koolhaas on Lagos. For reals.

I haven't visited those websites in a long time. It's great to see they are still up and running. The book looks cool, too.

The detroityes site used to be better. I first found that site in 2002 or 2003. I went back a couple of years ago and looked through it again. Though there was some new content, there was also a lot of stuff from before that had been pulled down. I'm not sure why that was.

a friend very concerned with the detroit environs recommends this as a good article. I've not read it yet so caveat lector.
