No Shit, Sherlock

What's striking is the enormous lack of impact the recent Wikileaks release of diplomatic documents has had. I haven't been reading carefully up on every single revelation -- a platoon of NYT reporters are combing through the docs to reveal their contents -- so there may be info that will prove cataclysmic in future. Right now, not feeling it.

So I am edging to the conclusion that Julian Assange is a douche bag, supported by douche bags, whose hacking skills have blinded them to the idea that the 250,000 docs they leaked are of little interest to anybody except the people whose lives are endangered and to wonks like me, who love to know what is basically anodyne gossip about back channel economy transactions between the Ukraine and Somalia intercepted by Somali pirates who ratted out the illegal trade in Soviet era tanks to the proper authorities, who denied, indeed, were shocked, shocked, that such douche bag nations should be trading douche bag goods. In other words, a Pink Panther plot. What Assange has exposed -- aside, allegedly, from his dubiously manly parts -- is that clandestine activity runs the world and will continue to do so whether or not he continues allegedly to rape Scandanavian chicks.

Phillip Blond and the Post-Global Way Forward

Here is Phillip Blond's Red Tories manifesto.

My smart friend Nick says the Euros, reaching the end of socialist and capitalist mayhem, are in a much better position to implement these ideas.

Are they fascist, do you think?

Elizabeth Edwards

And, btw, pretty much hated all the Stand By Your Man E. Edwards obits. She lived an appalling life, much of it her own doing.

I hope this links to the 60s version of Tammy's SBYM, with the stone faced Nashville studio musicians behind her, the world's best, almost as stone faced as Tammy herself. Musta been the Bennies. And that rockin' white trash too-mean-to-die thing.

Is she actually introduced by an unbelievably young George Jones? In an unbelievable Nudie jacket?

There's just one place for me. Nair you.

George Jones and Tammy Wynette, one of music's most electrifying duos, sing "Near You."
Wow.
