I'm way beyond criticizing Martha Nussbaum for showing her fanny. Or whatever it is. That's not at all what I'm objecting to. Here are some of her betters in the pansexual pantheon of really well-dressed academic Old Babes.

Please note the suede. It's way cooler than leather.

Please note silk shirt and the tiny rings in the ears.

I think she was buried in this Issey Miyake dress.

Date: 2009-12-14 04:35 am (UTC)Interesting that she is still harping on the (culturally accepted/lauded) ability of males to "compartmentalize" sexual flings from emotionally bonded relationships. I don't agree with her point of view -- this is not something unique to men -- and I wish she would just acknowledge that patriarchal models are the problem. Polyamorous women are deemed monstrous. Why? Because someone has to mind the nest?

Date: 2009-12-14 03:00 pm (UTC)i've thought she was obnoxious since the early 1990s, when only i perceived she was an asshole. i stopped listening to her then, but i've never stopped paying attention to what she wears, as an older academic female much in the limelight.

Date: 2009-12-15 01:28 am (UTC)paglia has no such problems, and expresses quite explicitly, and age-appropriately, what
which may explain the political, as it's all personal. yannow?

3. i'm not feeling paglia, perhaps based on my perception and knowledge of her politics and thought. but also, her look does not communicate to me. it's strangely mute for someone with such a loud 'voice.'
