As probably the last surviving feminist in this space, I'd like to say that abortion will continue for those who need it when they need it, whether or not the government or medical insurance pays for it. One of the first political actions I took as a penniless college student was to help take up a collection for a sister in trouble -- she needed airfare to and from Puerto Rico for an abortion. We collected $800, which back in the paleolithic epoch covered the whole thing.

I do think abortion should be legal and I do think it's absolutely none of the government's business. I have done my stint of escorting at the abortion clinics, where I went nose to nose with Randall Terry himself, in his J. Peterman ankle-length outback riding coat and Stetson (his sidekick, a true neo-Nazi if I ever saw one, wore the knee-length version and the, uh, smaller brim) during the Roe v. Wade anniversary melees he led. I still haven't decided whether my colleagues at WACDTF or my enemies were more repulsive. But brawling on the sidewalk while never touching anybody is truly my idea of an excellent Irish Saturday morning, and I will serve if I am called. I love scaring the shit out of pasty white misogynist sexual harassing fuckaaaaaz.

Power, and health insurance, to the people.
