An absolutely mind-boggling discussion about how any reference to pearls in literature must mean clitoris over at the Virginia Woolf list-serv by the scions of queer studies, and if it does not one is silencing the generations of queerness, which, considering the bisexuality of Woolf, and her feminism, and her queerness, anybody who signs on as a Lupine had better be either interested in or neutral to, has yielded a thread of posts headed "Pearls, Clitorises, and Power", at least 10 unsubscribes, and one heroic congenital man who points out that Earl Monroe was known as the Pearl.

He was indeed. And he did it all in the days of tight basketball shorts.
