Inspired by the obsessive, but revolutionary, cyber hustler interior decorators over at Young House Love -- for $250 they do a mood board and furnish your room with links to cheap intarwebs furniture -- here's my shopping list finally consummated today. I can't do a mood board, but I do know porn when I see it. So I just pasted in the pix.
Today the Spumoni Room, the Martha Pink Craft Room, and the Blue Bayou Bedroom put their orders in at IKEA:
Coming up, for the Spumoni Room:

IKEA Stockholm easy chairs.
They shall face the armless B&B Italia sofa, and be flanked by the see-through silver Bertoia chair and the herringbone-glazed eBay rehab ottoman, to create a neolithic, totally Sister Parrish conversation grouping for six.

Ott and Bert. (Imagine carpet, Ott white, white linen seat cover on the couch, losing the Princess Pupuli palm pillow, the orbiting pink bamboo nesting tables, and the dog-stained bedspread on the sofa.)
Two white side tables to match Ott and Bert have been acquired from West Elm for the Spumoni Room:

The conversation area shall be anchored with a round Zillaskin rug, in tasteful taupe, ON SALE! from Macy's:

Likewise have six tulip chairs with white seat covers been acquired for my $100 Craigslist tulip table in the Morgan le Fey dining room section of the Spumoni Room. There will, I have determined, be a capiz shell curtain between Morgan le Fey and the kitchen. Googie!
There will also be a $60 IKEA Expedit sofa table, purchased in a birch finish to be hacked with spumoni-colored paint, under the $89 Nelson sunburst knockoff clock:

Coming up, for the Martha pink craft room, not one but TWO four-drawer Malm chests for works-in-progress, of which the organization is the first law of heaven:

Coming up, for the Blue Bayou Bedroom:

IKEA Malm dressing table, to be painted white and stashed with the gallons of chapstick, sunscreen, moisturizer, body butter, elbow-cuticle-eye-foot-hair cream that living in the desert entails. I want it to look like the 21st century version of Annabelle Goldsmith's, and by God, it shall.
There are two Lucite lamp bases on eBay I'm going to acqure for the Blue Bayou bedroom (correction, there's much hipper ones cheaper over at CB2) which shall be white, with big botanical fleurs des lis stencilled on in Varathane. Good sniffin'! I think I'm also going to put aluminum leaf on the ceiling (half the price of silver). We shall see.

Date: 2010-01-13 12:31 am (UTC)I've also had to break out a hacksaw once to get our six-drawer Malm's divider (for the half-width pair of top drawers) to fit properly. I don't remember a hacksaw listed alongside the screwdriver and the Allen key as required tools in the IKEA instructions. Terrible, terrible IKEA fail that time.
