So the supermercado did not have pita bread, and I didn't feel like making any, so for lunch I had home-cooked garbanzo hummus, very delicious, on tostadas.
I did not have to go so far in honoring the Egyptian revolution as to make pickled turnips (torshi left, I'm serious, left!) per the mother of Egyptian eats in English, Claudia Roden.
So I had the hummus and tostadas with Fannie Farmer's piccalilli, if you please. This would be the piccalilli I made with tomatillos from the supermercado.
Outrageous! Deeeeewicious!
