I've been eating out of the freezer and the local hippie greasy spoon for a month, which means basically oatmeal, veg soup and fruit, which I now actually sort of like.

But today for lunch I went crazy and got all the ingredients, including mortadella and Genoa salami, red pepper, red onion, romaine and hand carved provolone for a homemade hoagie. With plenty of red wine oregano vinaigrette.

I was only going to eat half. He he he.

Now enjoying a nitrate buzz such as I haven't had for months. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Prolly inspired by brothacuz E pointing out that my first husband, El Guido, may not have had an IQ above 98.6 (not needed!), he was in fact a ranked chess playa. I'd forgotten that about him, bless his little capacol'.

It's that vinaigrette that makes it.

We've been working on a pot of carrot-coconut-tangerine soup with ginger and garlic and coriander and allspice and lots of little fiery dried red chiles.

Tonight's main course, though, was a homey Cantonese stir-fry of (well soaked) salt cod, egg, and several large bunches of chives.
