Woman's Day Month o' Menus
Jan. 4th, 2011 08:57 pmI've always totally doted on Woman's Day month o' menus, especially when they realized all their readers had gone to work and had five minutes to get dinner on the table. That was big. There was a lot of canned potatoes, which I thought was amazingly groovy.
More recently they've rung the changes on things like frozen hashbrowns, also totally groovy, but now they're back into real cooked food.
I think lamb tagine in the slow cooker is a brilliant idea. It calls for pumpkin pie spice, totally groovy, but I wonder what it is?
I note the recession has brought a lot more meatless nights. There are a lot more low fat nights, too. Desserts disappeared in the '80s. Recently they had kids cook nite, but I haven't seen that for a while either. I guess the chillen all got jobs too.
I'm psyched to see shrimp 'n' grits on the menu. Somebody who knows what to eat is finally in the saddle.
